66th Wildlife Week

1st October 2020: Press meet held at Veeranahosally on behalf of 66th Wildlife Week & also released various awareness posters. APCCF Project Tiger, Director Project Elephant, CCF Mysuru, Director Nagarahole, DCF Mysuru and other senior officers of @aranya_kfd were present.

2nd to 8th October 2020: 66th Wildlife Week at Nagarahole Tiger Reserve. On account of 66th Wildlife week celebrations, Mr. Karthik Krishnan B, Principal of Surana Ind. PU College, Bangalore conducted an awareness session for school children on the importance of wildlife conservation. He also emphasised on the role played by vultures in maintaining the ecosystem. This year’s theme is based on Vultures, so this program was apt for the same. Programme was jointly organised in association with @WWFIndia, JNCASR & Surana College

Fringe village students are engaged in small batch (25 per day) and were given awareness about the ‘Role of Vultures’ in the Ecosystem followed by Quiz session & prize distribution organised at Antharsanthe WL Range.

Name of the Villages covered: Hunsekuppe, Hosamala, Hosaholalu and Mallali

Total No of Students attended the event: 125 (Class 5th grade to 9th grade)

3rd October 2020:Wildlife Week Program AIR (Akashvani) was roped in for spreading the importance of Wildlife Week Celebration. Eminent speakers like Krupakar, Wildlife Film makers, Conservationists and officers from the department and Villagers expressed the need for the Wildlife Protection. Broadcasting was done for an entire week covering viz, lesser known taxa i.e.  Vultures, Indian Pangolin, Mouse Deer, Four Horned Antelope, Smooth Coated Otters, Indian Giant Flying Squirrel, Leopard Cat, Grassland and Hadlus

5th and 6th October 2020: Swaccha Aranya conducted on behalf of 66th Wildlife Week @aranya_kfd Udboor gate to Bhavali gate, Mysore-Thalassery Road Nagarahole Tiger Reserve with support of people in forest villages and public involvement.

2nd to 8th October 2020:State level cyclothon flagged off at Veeranhosahally gate- Nagarahole Tiger Reserve with dual theme to save the elephant corridors and vultures for future.

7th October 2020: EDC Revival Meeting at Veeranhosahally and Free Safari to EDC Members

8th October 2020: 66’th Wildlife Week Quiz, Photo Competition, Slogan Contest.

Wildlife Quiz, Slogan and Photo contest was held on the occasion of 66th Wildlife Week, the winners of the contest were awarded with E-Certificates and Prizes.

2nd to 8th October 2020: Awareness about wildlife was carried out around the fringe villages of Nagarahole Tiger Reserve, including tribal hamlets through mobile LED display unit. Showcasing messages from Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka, Forest Ecology and Environment Minister, PCCF (HoFF), PCCF (WL), Chief Wildlife Warden and Screening of short wildlife movies.
